School dental screening programme report - ABSMIDS

As a part of N-BRITE program, we from the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, A. B. Shetty Institute of Dental Sciences conducted an oral health education talk on importance of oral hygiene with a hands-on demonstration of proper brushing techniques at Cambridge School, Neermarga on 31.07.17 (Monday) under the able guidance of Senior Prof. (Dr) Amitha. M. Hegde, H.O.D of the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry and Prof. (Dr) Amarshree A. Shetty. The oral health education talk emphasized on familiarizing the children with the need for good oral health, highlighting the importance of proper maintenance of oral hygiene for a good quality of life. The talk was followed by a free dental checkup and the kids requiring dental treatment were referred to A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences. The children were given grades of A+, A, B & C according to their oral hygiene status and caries experience. A+: Excellent oral hygiene A: Good oral hygiene, but needs to visit the dentist every 6 months. B: Moderate oral hygiene, requires treatment and needs to visit the dentist at the earliest. C: Poor oral hygiene, needs to visit the dentist immediately.
