Vitiligo jatha Mangalore report - KSHEMA

To create awareness about vitiligo, IADVL Karnataka organized a vitiligo jatha traveling all throughout the state over a period of 29 days. It was heartily welcomed in Mangalore by Karavili members, with organization and active participation by staff and postgraduates of Department of Dermatology, K. S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore. All the members and the public gathered in front of Wenlock hospital at 9 am on 16/07/2017 for vitiligo jatha. Dr. Girisha B.S, Head of Department, Dept. of Dermatology, KSHEMA and President, Karavali Dermatology society welcomed the gathering. Dr Ramesh Bhat, National President elect, IADVL spoke about the jatha. Dr. Jerome Pinto Former Head of Department, Dept. of Dermatology, KSHEMA gave a narration about vitiligo. The jatha was flagged off by IMA president Dr. Raghavendra Bhat & RMO Dr Julien Saldanha. Later the jatha went around Mangalore with stops at KSRTC, City centre & Forum mall. Kannada documentary on vitiligo was screened continuously from 10 am to 7 pm at city centre & Forum mall. Guests were given Mahashwetha novel written by Sudha Murthy.
