News from Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy | A Webinar on ‘Stroke rehabilitation’

A webinar on ‘Stroke rehabilitation’ was conducted by Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy, on 26th September 2020 in academic partnership with Neuroscience Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi; First Neuro Hospital, Mangalore and K S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore.

A total of 460 participants registered for the webinar. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy followed by the inaugural address by Prof. (Dr) YM Jayaraj, Vice Chancellor, Pravara Institute of Medical Science, Maharashtra. Dr. Jayaraj emphasized the importance of rehabilitation along with medical & surgical management for the patients. Dr. Preethy Rathnakar continued the session, explaining in depth about the vascular anatomy of the brain. Dr. Rakshith C Kedambadi enlightened the delegates on clinical presentation of Stroke and Mr. Harpreet Singh explained the rehabilitation in Hemiplegic shoulder and precautions to be taken while rehabilitating a stroke patient.

The brainstorming Q&A session enhanced the knowledge of the participants. Ms. Shellette D Almeida, Asst. Professor, NIPT Coordinator of the webinar proposed the vote of thanks.
