The Department of E.N.T organized a Public Awareness Program, ""NISHABDA" on 23-12-2015 at Conference hall, Office of the commissioner of police, Mangalore. The Department of ENT, K.S.Hegde Medical Academy in association with Nitte speech and hearing college has been conducting the project “NISHABDA” since 2000. The highlight of this project is to create awareness about noise pollution and the evaluation of hearing assessment in the high risk population. This year 2016 as a part of our ongoing project the deafness detection camp in traffic personnel was conducted on 23rd December in conference hall, office of the commissioner of police, Pandeshwar, Mangalore. The traffic personnel who are working in the busy traffic areas are exposed to loud noise. This screening camp helps to identify the traffic police personnel whose hearing is affected and they can take adequate steps to prevent further hearing deterioration. The programme was inaugurated by Mr.S. Murugan (I.P.S) Commissioner of Police, Mangalore city and programme was presided over by Prof (Dr.) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Dean of KSHEMA. Mr. Rajashekar puranik , environmental officer, KSPCB was the guest of honour. This camp was well appreciated by police commissioner.
