Dr. K Ishwar Bhat, HOD, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry started the programme by introducing the speaker by explaining his achievements in his field of research.
The lecture delivered by Dr. Shrinath Baliga, Senior Scientist, Father Muller Research Centre, Mangalore on 6th October 2016 at 11.15 A.M was attended by teaching staff and PG students. Dr. Baliga gave a brief picture of research in cancer, he also explained various screening models for anticancer activities which includes clonogenic and nonclonogenic assays as a basic models for screening the drugs and he explained about various cell culture models and also in-vivo models and he discussed about various cell lines currently available for anticancer activities. He pointed the advantages and disadvantages in cancer research. The overall talk was very informative and useful for the students to take up their career in cancer research.
There were few active discussions after the lecture from both students and staff with speaker and he answered well and clarified their queries and gave some suggestions to carry out the cancer research. At the end Dr. R. Narayana Charyulu felicitated the speaker and proposed vote of thanks.
