Mr. Rakshith Shetty, Senior Research Scientist, Formulation Development at Steer Life India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore delivered a guest lecture on 1st October 2016 for the Fourth Year B.Pharm students on the topic; “Indian Pharmaceutical Industry: Development and Future Prospects”. The lecture was aimed at orienting the students towards improving their awareness of various possible avenues for their future careers in the Pharma industry. An alumnus of NGSMIPS, Mr. Rakshith Shetty has 6 years of industrial experience in developing dosage forms for domestic and foreign markets in various pharma companies.
Dr. Marina Koland, Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutics introduced the speaker to the audience. In his lecture, Mr. Rakshith Shetty briefly covered the present scenario of Pharmaceutical industry in India including Research and Development, formulation development opportunities and challenges as well as regulatory aspects. He also described the various departments in the Pharma Industry and their job responsibilities. The students were informed that there were equal opportunities for M.Pharm graduates of all disciplines and highlighted the various areas in the industry where they could start their career. The interactive session ended with a small video of a speech given by Steve Jobs at a graduation ceremony that had an inspiring message to students about to embark on a career.
The lecture was concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Arfa Khan of Fourth Year B.Pharm expressing gratitude on behalf of the class to the resource person and the organizers of the lecture for the valuable information that they had received.
