NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte had procured an NVIDIA server for the purpose of learning & research related to Artificial intelligence and Deep learning. In connection with this, the Department of Information Science and Engineering had organized a training program recently in the campus. Dr. Sathyadhyan Chickerur, Professor, KLE Technological University and Mr. Bharath, NVIDIA were the resource persons for the program. Ms. Ashwini B coordinated the workshop. Training was conducted for faculties of NMAMIT.
The program was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Niranjan Chiplunkar on 11th June, 2018. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the new and emerging trends of machine learning resource provided by the college and the need to carry out research in this area. Mr. Unnikrishnan A.R, Director, Business Development highlighted the usage of NVIDIA server in AI/DL.
The first day of the program had sessions related to theory of machine learning and the algorithms used in data analysis. On the second day, there was a demonstration of working on machine learning algorithms using the NVIDIA server. A demo was given using digits framework to classify various images. This was initially demonstrated using Amazon cloud server and then the same experiments were made using the college server. Dr.L.M. Patnaik, Adjunct Professor, IISc, Bangalore enlightened the participants with the uses & applications of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning in his talk.
The third day discussions included the demo related to machine learning experiments and CUDA programming. The sessions concluded with a discussion of the possible syllabus that can be floated to the UG students.
