World Environment Day

The World Environment Day was celebrated on 9th of June 2018 at the Thrimshathi Bhavan, A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences. Dr. Smitha Hegde, Professor, Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research (NUCSER) was invited to address the 1st and 2nd year BDS students on the importance of saving the environment.

Prof. Dr. Amarshree A. Shetty introduced the speaker for the event, and Prof. Dr. Mithra M. Hegde, Vice Principal, ABSMIDS delivered the welcome address.

Dr. Smitha in her own passionate and enthusiastic way adjured the students to let go off their ‘heedless and irresponsible’ attitude towards Mother Nature and reminded that by planting trees or preserving them, we were actually doing our bit in protecting and conserving the environment which is vital for the healthy survival of humanity.

She motivated the students to bring about a change in the society, and that planting trees in and around our campus will be the best start! She also encouraged them to imbibe this practice as part of their lifestyle, and pass on this prodigious act to the new batches to come, until it becomes a routine!
