An orientation program for freshers admitted to to M.Pharm, Pharm.D, B.Pharm and D.Pharm courses for the year 2018-19 was organized by NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the KSHEMA Auditorium on 1st August, 2018.
The program started with a prayer invoking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by lighting of the lamp, symbolic of an auspicious beginning for a successful and fulfilling career of the new aspirants.
Inaugurating the program, Dr.M. Shantaram Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) in his presidential address called upon the young aspirants to develop an insatiable appetite for acquiring knowledge and said, besides excelling in academics, being a good human being with a passion to serve the country and countrymen should be given paramount importance.
Dr.M.S. Moodithaya, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) commended the parents for their prudent decision to admit their wards to the Nitte group of Institutions. He said that pharmaceutical profession ranks 3rd among top professions globally in terms of growth opportunity it offers and its contribution towards revenue generation to augment the economy of the country.
Dr. R. Narayana Charyulu, Vice Principal & Head, Department of Pharmaceutics presented a brief overview of the progress of the college since inception in 1983 till its present position of 25th rank among 1000 plus pharmacy colleges all over India. He also oriented the students about the semester pattern, grading system, attendanceand assured the parents of a safe, secure and holistic learning ambience for their children.
Dr. K. Ishwar Bhat, Professor & HoD, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, delivered the welcome address and introduced the authorities of the University to the parents and students. He said that the college is committed to provide an excellent research oriented academic ambience and a unique rewarding experience for those daring to dream and achieve big in the pharma sector. Prof.(Dr.)P.S. Prakash, Dean, KSHEMA, Prof. (Dr.) Jayaprakash Shetty, Vice-Dean (Admn), KSHEMA, Prof.(Dr.) Amrith. M.Mirajkar, Vice-Dean (Academics) KSHEMA, Dr. Prasad. B. Shetty, Controller of Examinations, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Prof.(Dr.) Indrani Karunasagar Director (R&D), Nitte (Deemed to be University were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.
