Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy, a constituent college of Nitte (Deemed to be University) celebrated its 22nd Annual Day on 9th March 2019 at KS Hegde Auditorium, Deralakatte. The program started with a prayer song by Ms. Vismaya & Ms Chaitanya of II BPT. Prof. Dr Dhanesh Kumar KU, Principal, Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy welcomed the gathering and presented the Annual Report for the academic year 2018-19.
The Chief guest, Dr. Hansraj Alva, Managing Director, Vinaya Hospital & Research Center, Mangalore, in his address explained the importance of physiotherapy in various disciplines, for the speedy recovery of patients, explained the opportunities for physiotherapists in India and urged the students to serve the nation rather than migrate abroad.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Rakshith C. Kedambadi, Consultant Neurologist, First Neuro Hospital, Mangalore appreciated the faculty & students for their efforts in serving the society, in terms of NSS Activities, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan etc. He motivated the students and asked them to take pride in being a physiotherapist and advised them to update themselves with the recent advances in the field. The annual college magazine, Akanksha-2019 was released by the Chief guest, Dr. Hansraj Alva. Certificates were distributed to the faculty & students who participated in the Exchange program at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. Awards for the best outgoing student, best intern, best NSS volunteer, best student volunteer, best sports persons (male and female), best overall team in all NIPT events, Rajmohan Memorial Award for the topper in the subject of cardio respiratory physiotherapy, Dyna scholarship of Rs.10,000 for the final year BPT academic topper and academic toppers of BPT and MPT year wise,were distributed.
The formal function ended with the Vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Purusotham Chippala, Assoc. Professor, NIPT. Mrs. Suchetha PS, Assoc. Professor and Ms. Sayunkta Anchan, General Secretary, Students’ Council co-ordinated the event. Ms. Jumana Bhagath was the Master of Ceremony. Cultural programs were conducted for the students following the formal function. The students participated actively and thoroughly enjoyed the program. The evening ended with dinner being served to all.
