A two-day hands-on Workshop on Health Technology Assessment with Economic Evaluation of Health Programmes - MULYANKAN- - KSHEMA

A two-day hands-on Workshop on Health Technology Assessment with Economic Evaluation of Health Programmes - MULYANKAN was organized by the Department of Community Medicine, K S Hegde Medical Academy in association with the Public Health Foundation of India and the Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar on 22nd and 23rd of February 2019.

The total number of delegates for the workshop were 60 including the faculty and postgraduates of the Department of Community Medicine.

The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Prof Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, NitteDU and Prof Dr P S Prakash, Dean, K S Hegde Medical Academy was the Presiding Officer. The Guest of Honor was Dr Anup Karan, Additional Professor, IIPH, New Delhi, who was also one of the resource persons.The workshop began with an introduction to Health Economics. Dr Habib Hasan, Additional Professor, IIPH, New Delhi introduced the delegates to economic evaluation.

On Day Two, the first session was on Health Technology Assessment - step towards achieving UHC by Prof Dr Sanjay Zodpey, Vice President, PHFI, India. A talk on "Current knowledge and future perspectives of health technology assessment" was delivered by Dr Soman Saha, Associate Professor, IIPH, Gandhinagar. The afternoon session began with a talk on "Health Technology Assessment Techniques" by Dr. Soman Saha. Dr. Deepak Saxena delivered a talk on "Ways to validate data in health technology assessment".

Exercises on economic evaluation were given to participants who had to come up with solutions. The Chief Guest of the Valedictory progam was Prof Dr Sanjay P Zodpey and Prof (Dr) Jayaprakash Shetty, Vice Dean, K S Hegde Medical Academy, was the presiding officer.
