5th March, earmarked as National Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics Day by the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics was celebrated by the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences jointly in association with the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics (IACDE) and the Association of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics of Karnataka (ACE-Karnataka). A week long program was arranged which culminated with the prize distribution ceremony on 5th March 2019.
The inaugural program had the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Ganesh Sanjeev, Professor of Physics and Head of Microtron Centre, Mangalore University lighting the lamp. In his inaugural address, he emphasized on the importance of research, avenues for research in Mangalore University, need for materialization of innovative ideas and appreciated the outlook of the Institute.
The Department conducted quiz, e-poster, table clinic and teaching module competitions for the benefit of its UG and PG students. The celebrations flagged off with 2 quiz competitions –Brainwave, a quiz competition for the I BDS students and Consendo Quest, a quiz competition for the IV BDS students on 1st & 2nd March. The II & III BDS students displayed an exemplary performance at the Table clinic and e-poster competitions respectively on 4th March. Teaching module competition was conducted for the postgraduate students. The prize winners were awarded Certificates at the formal event on 5th March 2019.
