Students of Public Health from University of Minnesota, USA, were at Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, on 6th January 2020, to be part of a two week-long student exchange program hosted by the Department of Public Health, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangaluru.
This program titled “Tribal Health and Rural India” will focus on understanding the healthcare requirements of tribals, tribal acculturation and envisioning tribal livelihood. Students will also be extensively exposed to the functioning of Indian public and private healthcare systems, programmatic components in tribal and rural India and the culture, livelihood and traditional practices of different tribes.
Prof (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr) M S Moodithaya, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Alka Kulkarni, Registrar, Dr P S Prakash, Dean, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Vice Deans, Dr Amrut Mirajkar and Dr Jayaprakash Shetty, Dr. Jagannath P, Head (I/c), Department of Public Health along with faculty and students were present at the orientation program for the visiting students.
