Prof. (Dr) Fatima Dsilva, Principal, NUINS who presided over the function, explained the purpose of the refresher training program. An assessment of previous knowledge gained by the volunteers was conducted with a pre-test by Dr. Neetha Kamath, Head, Dept of Community Health Nursing, NUINS. A total of 10 volunteers from Nitte village who had undergone training in August 2021 attended the refresher training program and were reoriented to first aid and emergency skills such as Wound Dressing, Bandaging & Restraining, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, Hemorrhage Control, Trauma Care - Cervical Spine Stabilization, Shifting & Transfer and Management of foreign body aspiration.
The training program concluded with a valedictory function. Prof. (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte DU was the Chief Guest. He expressed the importance to train people from all communities and equip them with skills to save lives, in times of emergency. He also congratulated the efforts of the Dept of Anaesthesiology and the Nursing College for providing excellent and noble service to the community.
Dr. Sripada Mehendale, Head, Dept of Anesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA and Dr. G. Srinikethan, Director, Technical Research, Nitte DU were present. Dr. Neetha Kamath welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Cleeta Pinto Asst. Professor, NUINS, presented the Training Report. Participants expressed that the refresher training program enabled them to revise and rehearse the skills learnt earlier. Certificates were awarded to all the participants and trainers. Mrs. Latha S, Organizing Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Risha Dsouza of III BSc Nursing anchored the program.
