The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences organized a free dental screening camp at Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir, Yeyyadi, Konchady on 05.08.2022. The camp was organized by the postgraduate students under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Manju R, HoD and Dr. Prajna Nayak.
The postgraduate students spoke on the importance of oral health awareness to the students and emphasized the need for regular dental check-ups. They provided a demonstration on the ideal brushing and flossing technique using a model. Further, the students were also given instructions on maintaining a non-cariogenic diet.
A total of 8 doctors (6 postgraduate students & 2 staff members) from the Department of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry and 7 interns were assigned the screening zones and oral health check-ups were done. The non-teaching staff present provided the necessary assistance.
A total of 260 patients were screened at the camp. Each patient was provided with oral hygiene instructions and further guidance on other treatments which they may require. Those patients who required treatment were instructed to report to AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences with the referral form provided for their assistance. Sterilization and disinfection protocols were maintained.
