News from MRSMEMHS | Celebrations of 75 years of India’s Independence – “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”

The celebrations of 75 years of India’s Independence – “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” started at Dr. MRSM School, few weeks prior to the Independence Day. Series of events were organized to encourage students to participate and commemorate 75 years of independence. The Chief Guest of the day was Shri Vikramdatta, Ex-serviceman, CEO, Kunil Schools Mangalore. Principal Mrs Shreelatha Rao welcomed and introduced the chief guest and hoisted the National Flag. The Chief Guest Shri Vikramdatta highlighted the sacrifices of unsung heroes like Jhalkari Bai who helped Jhansi Rani Laxmi Bai to fight against the East India company. He also advised students to be successful not in terms of money, political power or muscular power, but to be a hero by doing good to the nation and also by bringing laurels to the School. 

The documentary ‘Swatantrya Deepti’ on the freedom fighter Sri Somappa Basappa Kotian prepared by the students under the guidance of their teachers was released by the Chief guest, Sri Vikramdatta. 

A sumptuous breakfast was served to all gathered. The cultural program began by honouring the corona warriors of Kemral Health Centre, led by sister Margaret along with Mrs Yashoda and Mrs Latha Lokesh as a mark of respect for their unconditional service rendered to the school in times of need. The PTA President Mr. Swaraj Shetty appreciated the health workers for their service. The cultural program included patriotic song by the school choir, fancy dress by the kindergarten, role play by Class 8 & 9 students, Mime show by Class 6 & 7 students, stand-up comedy and group dance by students from Class 5 to 10.
