News from NSAM PUC | Independence Day celebration

The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at Dr. NSAM PU College, Mangaluru on 15th August 2022.

Chief Guest, Subedar Major Shashidhara Alva, Veteran, Army Education Department hoisted the national flag. In his speech, he said that it is not necessary to join the armed forces to serve the nation, instead it is important to realize one’s role and execute our social responsibilities in a proper manner. The Chief guest was thereafter felicitated by the Principal and faculty members of the College.

Principal, Dr. Naveen Shetty in his presidential address said that the hallmark of our identity as Indians is the line that sums up everything “Unity & Diversity”. Although we live in a land of diverse culture, religion and language, we celebrate independence day with a feeling that we are all one. He further said that one should not forget the sacrifices of our leaders made to free their motherland and it is time to pay homage to them. He urged the students to develop patriotism and love for the country. Students who won prizes at PU Board Intercollegiate District level Karate and Swimming competitions were also recognized during the occasion. Highlights of the day’s celebration included patriotic songs & dance, skits, and human pyramid formation. The display of gymnastics was very impressive. Breakfast was served to all the students and staff. Around 500 students and all the staff members attended the celebration.
