The Student Innovation Club (SIC), in collaboration with IIC Nitte DU and College Innovators Innovation Project Development Centre (CIIPDC), inaugurated the Innovation Centre at NUINS on 12th August 2022.
Prof. Dr Fatima Dsilva, Principal NUINS welcomed the gathering. Chief guest, Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte DU, Mangalore inaugurated the centre by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the name board. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration in healthcare.
Prof Dr. Srinikethan, President IIC, Nitte DU was the Guest of Honour. He stressed on the need for innovative thinking among the students of the nursing discipline, and elaborated on the various opportunities available for collaboration. Mrs. Meenakshi Patil, Global Lead-Strategic Partnerships at IBM, Brazil, the Guest of Honour addressed the gathering and highlighted the benefits of Metaverse. The College Innovators Team also discussed on Healthcare Innovation.
Mr. Keerthan Prabhu, CEO of College Innovators, oriented the guests and the students regarding the functioning of the innovation lab and proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Prathima, Lecturer NUINS compered the program. Prof. Dr. Jacintha Veigas, Coordinator for IIC, NUINS was also present. A total no of 22 faculty & 66 students attended the program.
The participants had hands-on training on Virtual Reality and had an opportunity to discuss on additive and subtractive manufacturing. They clarified their doubts at the end of the session. The event helped the participants to have insight into innovation, entrepreneurship, and its need. It also created awareness of various challenges of an entrepreneurial journey and the potential areas of entrepreneurship.
