A series of sessions on 'Stress Management and Goal Setting' were conducted by Ms Pricilla D'Silva of 'You Matter'- Counselling & Training Centre on 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th October and 14th of November 2022 for I, II, III BSc and I and II MSc students of NUCSER.
The sessions involved fun ice-breakers, understanding our body reactions during stressful situations, and skills to enhance time management and productivity. The Eisenhower box was explained to the students that helps in categorizing tasks according to our priority as urgent, not urgent, important or not important. Prioritizing tasks and managing time without leading to a build-up of stress on the mind and the body was also explained effectively. During the session, the students were allowed to meditate for 2-5 minutes at random intervals to teach them the impact of meditation on the body and mind. Meditation can play an important role in tackling stressful situations such as exams, submissions, family matters etc.
The sessions were fruitful and empowered the students with a deeper insight into the working of their body and mind. The skills taught during the sessions will help in handling stress, improving productivity and caring for one’s mental health.
