The Departments of Radiodiagnosis and Obstetrics & Gynaecology of K S Hegde Medical Academy organized a 2-day zonal conference on "Fetal medicine update - basics and beyond" on 21st & 22nd January 2023 at Avishkar, ABSMIDS.
The conference was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) M Shantharam Shetty, Pro Chancellor, Nitte University, who spoke about the importance of prenatal diagnosis of fetal anomalies. He explained the importance of such education programs, to increase awareness among clinicians and eventually reduce the incidence of anomalies & deformities. He appreciated the presence of a significant number of ladies among the radiology postgraduates in the audience.
Prof. (Dr.) Supriya Rai, Dept. of OBG, KSHEMA presided over the function. Dr. Adinarayana Makam, President, Society of Fetal Medicine, Karnataka Chapter; Dr. K Prakash, Dean, KSHEMA; Prof. (Dr.) Sumalatha Shetty, Medical Superintendent, K S Hegde Hospital; Prof. (Dr.) Raghuraj, HoD Radiodiagnosis; Prof. (Dr.) Lakshmi Manjeera, HoD of OBG and Dr. Nireeksha Shetty, Fetal Medicine Consultant & Organising Secretary of the Conference were present on the occasion.
This conference amalgamating multi-disciplinary departments of Radiodiagnosis, Obstetrics, Fetal Medicine, Pediatrics and Medical Laboratory Technology will go a long way in fetal medicine and research. Live demo sessions on fetal scans by experts and talks on many important topics including therapeutic fetal procedures were given by stalwarts in the field. A Quiz session was conducted using an online generated link and participants could take part, scanning the QR codes installed around the hall. Discussion on the same was done at the end of the conference.
The two-day conference was attended by over 200 delegates from around Karnataka & nearby states.
