The National Service Scheme & Youth Red Cross Units of NGSMIPS organized an Orientation program for the newly appointed volunteers of the units on 21st March 2023 at the University Auditorium, Paneer. Dr. Raghavendra Holla N, Chairman, Swastika National School, Mangaluru was the chief guest. Mr. Shashi Kumar Shetty, NSS Coordinator, Nitte DU was the guest of honour.
Ms. Ananya, Ms. Sameeksha & Ms. Anagha, student volunteers from I B.Pharm rendered the invocation song. Vice-Principal, Prof. (Dr.) R Narayana Charyulu welcomed & introduced the guests. Mr. Shashi Kumar Shetty appreciated the institute for conducting several social awareness activities through the year and thanked the Principal for motivating his students. He advised the newly appointed volunteers to continue with the same fervor and encouraged them to come up with new concepts for creating social awareness.
Dr. Holla congratulated the new volunteers & shared his own experiences of volunteering with NSS during his student days. He explained that NSS & YRC provide a platform to students to showcase their skills & help them develop leadership skills and transform into strong personalities. He explained that students learn to deal with any adverse situation as in the course of organizing social activities they are required to face & overcome several challenges.
Prof. (Dr.) CS Shastry, Principal in his presidential address urged the students to actively engage in social work, as it provides practical knowledge. He advised the members to conduct outreach programs that would enable students to reach out to the community and get to know them better.
