As a part of the World Breastfeeding Week Celebration 2023, the Department of Child Health Nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences conducted a Mass Health Education program on 'Breastfeeding' at Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project office, Falnir, Mangaluru on 3rd August 2023.
The program commenced with a prayer song and lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Mr. Anantha Govinda Sharma, President, Lions Club, emphasized the importance of breastfeeding in his speech. Mr. Chennakeshava, Project Officer, Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project briefed the audience about the women's welfare activities under their project. He also congratulated Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences for taking the initiative to educate women on breastfeeding, which brings positive changes to society.
Dr. Sharlet Dsouza, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Child Health Nursing, delivered health education on breastfeeding techniques, positions and the significance of exclusive breastfeeding and addressed the doubts and queries from participants.
10 students and 2 faculty from NUINS attended the program. 203 women benefitted from the program.
