News from NMAMIT | A Program on Gender Equity, Inclusiveness & Sensitization

The Gender Sensitization Cell of Nitte University organized an event at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte on "Gender Equity, Inclusiveness & Sensitization" on 26th September 2024 to create awareness and foster acceptance among diverse groups. Dr. Niranjan Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT, welcomed the gathering, highlighting the university's commitment to inclusivity on campus. The event's chief guest, Dr. Vina Vaswani, Professor of Forensic Medicine & Director of the Centre for Ethics at Yenepoya University, addressed the challenges faced by young girls transitioning into womanhood and the importance of support systems in overcoming these issues.

Dr. Suma Ballal, Dy. Registrar, Nitte University, spoke on gender equity and offered insights into the needs of diverse groups. The event was coordinated by Dr. Anitha Marina Colaco from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at NMAMIT. GSC members Dr. Ashalatha from JKSHIM, Mr. Sukesh from NUINS and Dr. Juliet from NUCSER were also present. A total of 190 students from NMAMIT, JKSHIM and NSAMFGC participated in the event.
