After receiving a brief introduction to the cleanliness drive the cadets took a pledge to reduce use of plastic. Mrs. Pramila, from the Regional Environmental Department, Udupi provided insights into Mission Life, while Dr. KM Raju discussed the sources of beach pollution and highlighted the harmful effects of plastic pollution on human health. Cadets were briefed about the recycling of the SUP (Single Use Plastics) by Mr. Sunil, member of NCC Udaan. Demonstration of how plastic bottles can be recycled was done by the ECO STP team working towards the same mission.
Repeating the slogan “Refuse, Reduce, Recycle, Reuse” with enthusiasm, the volunteers set to clean the seashore. Driven by the motto "Solution to Pollution" and aiming to reduce single-use plastic waste, volunteers from various organizations came together to clean the Hoode Beach and surrounding areas. Some cadets crafted a sand art piece, themed around Swachh Bharat to raise awareness & inspire cleanliness among the public.
Around 300 people took part in this drive and collected approximately 2 tons of plastic waste from the shores of Hoode beach at Udupi.
