We must have a genuine concern for members of our society and our country. Social awareness is merely the
first step, action and commitment is more important, opined Dr. C. S. Shastry Principal, NGSMIPS at the
student awareness program –“Vote for Better India”, organised by the NSS Cell of the college on 8th March
2014 at the NIBF Auditorium.
Introducing the guest speaker, Dr. Shastry appreciated the sincere effort of youngsters like Ms. Anusha in
creating social awareness among the youth and advised the students to actively partake in such pro-people
and pro-nation programs.
Ms. Anusha Raghava, the guest speaker from ‘Art of Living’ appealed the students to become more concerned
or stop being apathetic to the problems our country is plagued with. She explained that each and every Indian
wants a better India but not aware of the ways to achieve this. We are all sick and tired of the corruption, food
inflation, deteriorating moral values, crime against women… the list goes on. This situation can change only if
youngsters wake up and fight against these evils by actively participating in the process of creating social
awareness against these dangerous nation destructive trends and also taking active part in the election to
install a strong, non-corrupt government for a better and vibrant India. Elections are an indispensable part of a
democracy. Voting is a privilege that our ancestors had to fight hard for.
If you do not vote, you do not have a right to COMPLAIN.
- In any constituency, only 54% of the people vote. The winning margin of a party is only often less than a mere 5% which means that 16-20% of all people decide the fate of that entire constituency, and of the country. Your vote can change this.
- Registering to vote is as important as applying for a college admission or getting a passport.
- More than 80% of the youth between 18-24 years has not registered to vote.
- Your vote is your VOICE. And your vote is your voice in the parliament.
