News from NUCSER | EXOUSIA 2025: Annual Athletics Meet

EXOUSIA 2025, the annual athletics meet of NUCSER, was held on 1st February 2025, marking a grand celebration of sportsmanship, skill and determination.

Dr. Divyashree M, Sports Coordinator, NUCSER welcomed the gathering. The formal proceedings began with the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the official opening of the Meet by the Chief Guest, Mr. Shyam Sundar M, Physical Education Director of NMAMIT. A vibrant display of colorful balloons representing the four houses was released to symbolize the spirit of the competition.

Mr. Shyam Sundar highlighted the importance of incorporating physical activities into daily life, noting that sports & games serve as effective exercise and valuable sources of leisure and recreation. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Murali Krishna V, Sports Advisor, Nitte DU, encouraged students to participate in sports activities and utilize the facilities available on the campus. The formal event concluded with a speech by Prof. (Dr) Anirban Chakraborty, Director of NUCSER. He accentuated the importance of physical exercise in the digital age, emphasizing how it keeps us agile and improves our well-being and career prospects. The Sports Secretary, Mr. Sabyasachi Samanta delivered the vote of thanks.

The March Past was led by the Sports Secretaries, Mr. Sabyasachi Samanta and Ms. Niyathi Nayak and the captains of the 4 teams - Red Raptors (Deole & Umang), Blue Bandits (David & Shawn), Green Mavericks (Parikshit & Skanda) and Silver Slayers (Yashmitha & Ashwini). NUCSER faculty members also participated in the march past led by Dr. Praveen & Dr. Deekshit.

The torch relay featured distinguished athletes who have brought glory to the institution, including Ms. Jyotika, Ms. Kavita, Mr. Anirudh and Ms. Niyati Nayak B. The athletes, led by the President of the Student Council, Mr. Preetham Nayak, took an oath reaffirming their commitment to fair play and sportsmanship. Following this, various athletic events, both track and field events, were held simultaneously. Ms. Athmika and Ms. Jyothika, among the women’s category, and Mr. Jovan from the men’s category received the Best Athlete award. Team Blue received the Best March Past award.
