Free dental screening camp and an overall health education program at Koraga residential school, Kadri - ABSMIDS

As part of NICAT (Nitte Intergrated Care for Tribal Community), the post graduates from the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, A.B.Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, along with Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences and in collaboration with the Integrated Tribal Developmental Department, Government of Karnataka, conducted a free dental screening camp and an overall health education program at Koraga residential school, Kadri on 25.09.16 (Sunday) under the able guidance of Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Amitha M. Hegde, H.O.D, Prof. (Dr.)Vabitha Shetty & Prof. (Dr.)Amarshree A. Shetty and Mr Jince V John. We were obliged to have Dr. B.S. Hemalatha, project co-ordinator of Integrated Tribal Developmental programme as a part of this event.



Oral screening was done for 95 students from STD I- VII. The importance of oral hygiene was explained in the form of a health education talk by the post graduates from the Department of Pedodontics & a talk on personal hygiene was given by students of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing sciences.

A follow up is planned after 3 months with a purpose to reassess their oral health knowledge, improve their brushing pattern and also to provide preventive and a few corrective treatments. And those requiring definitive treatment will be referred to college.
