Dr. D.K.Sreekantha, Dr. Shashikanth Karnika and Dr. Sairam from NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte had participated in Krishi Mela which was organized by Zonal Agricultural Research Centre at Brahmavar on 16th Oct. 2016.
As a part of an MOU signed between NMAMIT and University of Agriculture and Horticulture Sciences (UAHS), Shivamogga faculties from NMAMIT were invited to attend the Mela.This Krishi Mela was inaugurated by Hon Minister for Fisheries, sports and youth affairs Shri. Promod Madhwaraj. The theme of this program was the effective applications of mechanization in agriculture to reduce the cost and enhance productivity. The eminent speakers like Dr. M. Hanumanthappa Dr. Shankar from UAHS and State Award winners, progressive farmers explained how they have successfully implemented mechanization to reduce the costs and made profits in Paddy crop, Areca nut and dairy farming. Dr. Shashikanth Karnika has highlighted the need of mechanization to reduce cost and thus making agriculture more profitable and to preserve human health. The team also interacted with equipment dealers to understand the working mechanisms and latest trends in design of the agriculture equipment. The demonstrations of miniature model of Multipurpose Harvesters and mini tractors, power tillers from various manufacturers were observed during this visit. The team also interacted with some progressive farmers to understand the practical difficulties in using and maintaining the equipment. The official team of Zonal Agricultural Research Centre, Brahmavar have extended all the support for our visit. The team has collected lot of equipment brochures and materials for further study.
