With an aim to encourage further interest & learning in the subject of Oral Pathology, an innovative practice of student interaction & assessment was planned by the faculty members of the Department of Oral Pathology for III BDS students. With this in view, ‘Developmental Disturbances learning day’ was conducted on 2nd December 2016 at Vimshathi Bhavan. Prof. (Dr.) Vidya M was the guest of honour for the programme. She enlightened the students about the importance of Oral Pathology in clinical dentistry.
The following events were conducted for the day-
1. Case presentations:
Three students presented cases of developmental anomalies from the department archives. The best presentation were selected for the prize.
Judges: Dr. Srikala Bhandary, Dept of Pedodontics, ABSMIDS
Dr. Vidya Ajila, Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, ABSMIDS
Winner: Sachi Bhutani
2. Dumb charades
Two groups participated in the event where one participant from each group enacted a terminology related to Developmental Disturbances of the oral & paraoral structures. The team with maximum points was declared winner.
Winning group: Trishul Alva, Sherwin, Sai Samrat, Vyshak
3. Quiz:
Four groups comprising of 3 participants participated in the quiz.
a. Crack the Puzzle:
It comprised of 3 rounds of 4 puzzles each. The group with the maximum points were declared winners.
a. What’s your diagnosis?:
It comprised of 4 rounds of 4 questions each. The group with the maximum points were declared winners.
Winners: Damodar Hegde, Dhruv Ahuja, Sambodhi Mitra
4. Carving & clay modeling of developmental anomalies:
Students were asked to submit Carving & clay models of developmental anomalies Judges: Dr. Gopinath Thilak, Dept of oral Surgery, ABSMIDS
Dr. Mangesh Shenoy, Dept of Oral pathology, ABSMIDS
Winners: Carving: Celine Xavier
Clay modeling: Nishmitha Hegde The programme was followed by prize distribution to the winners By Prof. (Dr.) Vidya M.
