Six Days Faculty development programme on “Real Time Software Engineering and Project Management (FDP-2017)” - NMAMIT

Six Days Faculty development programme on “Real Time Software Engineering and Project Management (FDP-2017)” was successfully organized by the Department of Information Science & Engineering from 18th December to 23rd December 2017 at Shambhavi Seminar Hall, Nitte. The FDP programme received an overwhelming response from overall 30 participants from various engineering colleges from the region.

The programme was inaugurated on 18th December 2017 at 9:15 AM by our chief guest Dr. Srikanth Prabhu, Professor, Department of CSE, MIT, Manipal, Prof. Shyam Karanth, Assistant Professor, MIT, Manipal, Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunlkar, Principal, NMAMIT, Nitte, Prof. Karthik Pai B H (Programme Convener) & Prof. Vasudeva Pai (Coordinator, FDP). The inauguration was followed by the floral welcome to Chief Guest and Principal. Prof. Abhishek S. Rao was the master of ceremony for the programme.

Day -1 (18/12/17):
Dr. Srikanth Prabhu delivered the keynote address on the topic of Embedded SE: Life Cycle Models with Case Studies and Embedded Software Design followed by the lectures on Object-Oriented Design by resource person Prof. Shyam Karanth, Asst. Professor, Dept. of CSE, MIT, Manipal.

Day -2 (19/12/17):
Dr. Srikanth Prabhu delivered the technical session on the topic of User Interface Design in Embedded Systems (State Diagrams), Coding Standards and Software Testing (Complexity Graphs) followed by the sessions on Metrics in Embedded Project Management and techniques in Estimation for Project Management and Scheduling in Embedded Design by resource person Prof. Shyam Karanth.

Day -3 (20/12/17):
Dr. Vinay S, Professor, Dept. of CSE, PESCE, Mandya delivered the technical session on the topic of Program Analysis followed by the demo sessions on debugging the program and analyzing runtime errors using CPP Check tool.

Day -4 (21/12/17):
Mr. Subrahmanya Rao, Founder & CEO, Discover Dollar Technologies Pvt. Ltd. delivered the technical session on the topic of Leveraging Cloud Computing to achieve Real-Time analytics using AWS followed by practical demo session on Scaling analytics capability using Elastic Map Reduce on AWS by Mr. Dheemanth R, Software Engineer, Discover Dollar Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Demian Antony D’Mello, Professor, Dept. of CSE, CEC delivered the technical session on the topic of Service Oriented and Component-based Software Engineering.

Day -5 (22/12/17):
Dr. Preethi Mahadev, Manager, Infosys delivered the technical session on the topic of Risk Management in SDLC and Software Aging followed by sessions on Software Engineering Challenges in Cloud by our own internal faculty member Dr. Aravinda C V, Asst. Professor, Dept. of CSE, NMAMIT, Nitte.

Day -6 (23/12/17):
Industrial Tour was arranged for the participants to Manipal University Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI) Manipal University, Manipal. Dr. Shrihari Upadhyaya, CEO, MUTBI introduced MUTBI and gave an insight on how students and faculty members can benefit from this initiative of Manipal University. He also suggested the participants to publicize about MUTBI for the benefit of their students in career development. Dr. Shrihari Upadhyaya highlighted on various schemes and startups such as MUTBI Startups, Thrust area, Manipal Entrepreneurship Summit, Opportunities for researchers and facilities provided at incubation center for an hour followed by visit to various facilities and products developed at incubation center for about 2 hours.

The FDP was concluded by the valedictory function was Prof. Karthik Pai B H (Programme Convener) gave a summary report about the six days FDP and Dr. Sudesh Bekal, Dean (R&D) congratulated department on successful completion of FDP. The delegates gave their feedbacks about the FDP followed by certificate distribution. The valedictory function ended with national anthem followed by High Tea.
