The National Youth Week was inaugurated at the Paneer campus on 13th January, 2018. As part of the inaugural, the NSS unit of Nitte Institute of Architecture organised a talk by Mr. Ankit Kumar, Faculty in Humanities and Student Psycho-Social Support Counsellor, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kumar impressed on the students the necessity for discipline in life and also about the values that Swami Vivekananda lived by. The program started with a prayer song by NSS volunteers. Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor of NITTE (Deemed to be University) was the Chief Guest on the occasion and he advised students of the necessity to inculcate the principles of Swami Vivekananda, early in life.
The inaugural was followed by a week long program by all the constituent colleges of the University viz., K. S Hegde Medical Academy, A. B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy, Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research and Nitte Institute of Communication. These institutions conducted programs which included essay writing competitions, debates, awareness campaigns in adopted villages and health checkups by students of the medical college.
The week long program concluded with a talk by Swami Dharmavruthanandaji, of Ramakrishna Ashram, Mangaluru who spoke about Swami Vivekananda and his message for the youth.
