Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon and Researcher Dr. Asode Ananthram Shetty and well known social activist Mr. Krishna Kumar Punja, both of whom received Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 2018, were felicitated at a ceremony in Nitte (Deemed to be University) on 2nd January 2019.
Dr. Ananthram Shetty, who is currently the Chair of Orthopaedics and Director of Research, Institute of Medical Sciences, Canterbury Christchurch University, United Kingdom has been associated with Nitte University as an Adjunct Professor and is a key research collaborator with the Stem Cell Research Centre of the University. Sri Krishna Kumar Punja has worked extensively in Dakshina Kannada district through Sevanjali Trust which is associated with Nitte University for delivery of healthcare to underprivileged sectors of the society.
The Chancellor of the University, Sri N. Vinaya Hegde, Pro Chancellors Dr. M. Shantharam Shetty and Mr. Vishal Hegde, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. M.S. Moodithaya, Director (Finance & Planning) Mr. Rajendra and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
