NMAMIT hosts Nitte Pro Kabaddi - ‘Shrinidhi Cup’

“Rural people should preserve and develop rural sports,” opined Prof. A Yogeesh Hegde, Registrar of Nitte Campus. He was speaking after inaugurating the Nitte Pro-Kabaddi league 'Srinidhi Memorial Cup' on 31st of March 2019 organised in memory of Nitte Engineering college student and State level Kabaddi player, Srinidhi Asranna who passed away in a car accident in June 2018. “The death of state-level Kabaddi talent is sad. Therefore, this tournament is being held in his memory,” he said.

President of Udupi district Amateur athletic association, Mr. Ashok Adyanthaya presided over the program. “Kabaddi should get greater recognition. We can see national level professional Kabaddi Tournaments in TV channels worldwide. We look forward to the day when Kabaddi is included in the Olympics,” he said.

Guests of honor, Mr.Panduranga Rao, Kateel temple’s Harinarayana Asranna, Dean (Student welfare) Dr. Subrahmanya Bhat and Student Welfare Officer, Shekar Poojary were on the dais. Physical Education Advisor, Ganesh Poojary welcomed the gathering. Mr.Nevil, student, NMAMIT spoke about late Srinidhi Asrana. Mr. Sachin, student proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Roshan Fernandes, Associate Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering compered the program.
