International Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12th, the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, Founder of Modern Nursing. The Nursing Service Department of JKSHCH celebrated Nurses Day on 18th May 2019.
As part of the celebration, Sports Day was conducted on 1st May 2019 at Nitte University Grounds. Few indoor competitions were also held from 6th to 9th May 2019. The guests for the formal function were Major (Dr.) Shivakumar Hiremath, Medical Superintendent and Dr. Muralidhar Pai, Asst. Medical Superintendent. The formal program started with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a floral tribute to Florence Nightingale and cutting of the cake by the guests.
Col. Cecily PJ, Nursing Superintendent welcomed the gathering and administered the oath to the nurses. In her welcome address, she highlighted the theme of Nurses Day - A voice to lead - Health for All: Balanced Body, Mind and Spirit and emphasized on professional ethics and commitment to patient care.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Gladys Vaz, Asst. Nursing Superintendent, followed by light refreshments.
