National conference - PEDOQUEST - ABSMIDS

PEDOQUEST-2019   The Department of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry at A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences first hosted a national conference - PEDOQUEST in 2011, following which the Department has been celebrating Achiever’s Day every year to felicitate the post graduate and under graduate students for their excellence in academic and cultural activities.   Continuing with this tradition, colleges from in and around Mangalore were invited to participate in the inter-collegiate competitions on 12^th June, 2019. The participating colleges were Yenepoya Dental College, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore and Century Dental College, Kasargod.   The event began with a prayer song by Dr. Aditi and lighting of the lamp by the Dean, Prof (Dr) U.S. Krishna Nayak, Prof (Dr) Amitha M Hegde, HoD as well as the faculty members of the department.   There were 5 events lined up for the day. ‘Dr. Tooth-little’ conducted by Dr. Vabitha Shetty; ‘Q & A’ round by Dr. Manju & Dr. Nikita Lolayekar; ‘Dumb Charades’ by Dr. Amarshree Shetty; ‘Spella-Sauros’ by Dr. Srikala Bhandary followed by ‘Mad Ads’. The first 4 events guaged the knowledge of the students while the last event show cased the creative side of the participating teams, and they surely did not disappoint the audience. After a series of interactive events, the students and staff who made the institution proud in the year 2018-19, were felicitated. Ms. Shreya Shetty, a patient of the department and also the brain child behind designing the play room of the Department was handed over a memento, as a token of love and appreciation.   Dr. Amarshree Shetty won the Best Paper award at the conference organised by SAAPD in association with NAPD, Nepal. Dr. Joseph John won Best Poster award at the 40^th ISPPD conference held in Nagpur.   The undergraduate students were awarded prizes for their self-study project - PEDOJECT.

Ms. Neethu Varghese and Ms. Saumya Shanbhag were awarded certificates for 100% attendance. AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences was declared the overall winner of PEDOQUEST 2019. 
Prof (Dr) Amitha M. Hegde, HoD addressed the gathering and the event concluded with the National anthem.
