Lamp lighting ceremony - NUINS

Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences organized the Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the 28th batch of B.Sc (N) and GNM students on 14th December 2019 at the K.S Hegde Auditorium. The ceremony is held in reverence to Florence Nightingale, the lady with the lamp and also as a formal recognition of the student`s entry into the nursing profession.

Mrs. Cleeta Pinto welcomed the gathering> Theprogram began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by all the dignitaries. Prof. Sr. Dhanya, Principal, Athena Institute of Nursing Sciences was the chief guest. Dr. Fatima Dsilva, Principal, College of Nursing presided over the ceremony. Sr. Dhanya offered a floral tribute to Florence Nightingale as a mark of reverence and in her address to the students said, ‘Sincerity, Patience and Empathy’ should be the watchwords in every nursing professional’s life. Dr. Fatima Dsilva said effective communication skill along with dignity and integrity is imperative to provide comprehensive nursing care.

Dr. Sabitha Nayak, Vice-Principal, College of Nursing, Dr. Neetha Kamath I B.Sc(N) Coordinator, Mrs. Rita Priya Dcosta I GNM Coordinator and Mrs. Timi Thomas, SNA advisor along with the dignitaries facilitated the lighting of the lamp for all the 158 students. Dr. Neetha Kamath led the students in oath-taking. Mrs. Timi Thomas SNA advisor proposed the vote of thanks.
