News from NUINS | International symposium on ‘The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health’

International symposium on ‘The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health’, was organized by Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences in association with Ulster University and International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) on 27th January 2020 at the New Auditorium, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore. This symposium was conducted in honor of the 200th Birth Anniversary of Florence Nightingale.

Prof. Carol Curran, Executive Dean, Ulster University was the chief guest. Dr. Harsha Halahalli, Curriculum Director, Nitte DU presided over the function. Dr. Carol spoke about the vision of Ulster University and also highlighted the importance of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in nursing education. Dr. Harsha Halahalli spoke about the vision of Nitte DU and also mentioned that credit-based, outcome-based and skill-based learning is needed in Nursing Education and research should be the priority to strengthen the doctoral programs in the University. Faculty of Ulster University Prof. Sonja McIlfatric, Deirdre O’Donnell, Dr. Pauline Black and Mr. Paul Quinn were present during the program. Mrs. Hepsy Thomas welcomed the gathering, Prof. Fatima Dsilva, Principal, NUINS proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Cleeta Pinto compeered the program.
