NUCSER organized a guest lecture for the faculty and PG students on 14th February 2020 at the Webinar Centre of the Institute as a part of the faculty development program. The resource person was Dr Anusha Rohit, an alumna of KSHEMA, who is currently the Head and Senior Consultant (Microbiology) at The Madras Medical Mission, Chennai. Dr Anusha spoke on ‘Quality Control and Quality Assurance in Microbiology’. She explained the importance of quality assurance and monitoring in research labs with examples of proficiency testing that she carried out in her institute. She further highlighted the need for efficient quality checks for microbiological analysis in hospitals. Her talk assumed great significance in the context of emerging threats such as antimicrobial resistance and hospital-acquired infections.
