News from Medical Education Unit KSHEMA | Competency Based Medical Education - Concepts & Challenges

The Medical Education Unit, KSHEMA, and Staff Development Centre, Nitte DU jointly conducted a webinar-based panel discussion on ‘Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) - Concepts & Challenges’ on 29th June 2020. 

The panelists were Dr. Ved Prakash Mishra, Pro-Chancellor, Sri Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur; Lt. Gen. (Dr.) MD Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor Designate, MAHE, Manipal; Dr. Siddarth P Dubhashi, Assoc. Dean (Academics) / Professor & Head, Dept. of Surgery, AIIMS, Nagpur; Dr. Padmaja R Walvekar, Co-Convenor, MCI Centre for Faculty Development, Professor of Community Medicine, JNMC, Belagavi and Dr. Pretesh Kiran, Assoc. Professor of Community Medicine, MEU member, St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru. The webinar was moderated by Prof. (Dr) Jayaprakash Shetty K, Vice Dean & Head, Dept. of Pathology KSHEMA. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Nitte DU gave the opening remarks. The discussions highlighted the MCI vision, concepts & challenges and the role of faculty in designing & implementing competency based curriculum. 650 participants had registered for the program.
