News from NIPT | A webinar on ‘Physiotherapy in geriatric care during Covid-19 pandemic’

A webinar on ‘Physiotherapy in geriatric care during Covid-19 pandemic’ was organised by Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy in collaboration with the Departments of Community Medicine & Orthopaedics, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore and Vibrant College of Physiotherapy, Gujarat on 18th November 2020 on Google Meet. 

Prof. (Dr) Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Nitte DU, inaugurated the webinar and delivered the inaugural address. Prof. (Dr) Lawrence John Mathias, Professor & Head, Dept. of Orthopaedics, KSHEMA, delivered a talk on ‘Musculoskeletal changes in elderly & added effect of Covid-19 immobility’. 

Dr. Ankeeta Menona Jacob, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine, KSHEMA spoke on ‘Taking care of elderly in times of Covid-19’. 

Dr. Kushangi Pashuwala, Asst. Professor & Consultant Physiotherapist, Vibrant College of Physiotherapy, Gujarat, enlightened the participants on the area ‘Physiotherapy and its importance in elderly during Covid-19 crisis’. 

The webinar was followed by a Q&A session with several queries from participants. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal, NIPT. Mr. Krishnaprasad K M, Asst. Professor, NIPT, Coordinator of the webinar proposed the vote of thanks. 

A total of 114 participants had registered for the webinar.
