News from NUCSER | Induction of Student Council and Fresher’s day

After an unprecedented year of forced lockdown and confinements due to the corona pandemic, the staff and the students of Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research conducted the first event of the academic year, to formally induct the Student Council 2020-21 and to welcome the new admissions on 18th Febuary 2021 at the University Auditorium, Paneer campus.

Prof. Dr. Fatima D’silva, Principal, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences was the chief guest of the program. She handed over the council badges and administered the oath to the office bearers. Prof. Fathima urged the students to consider their stay in the institute as an important phase in their journey and also highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the student council. The guest of honour for the event was Prof. Dr. Indrani Karunasagar, Director Projects - DST-TEC, NitteDU who did the honours of felicitating the members of the previous council with certificates of appreciation. In her speech, she spoke about the qualities of a leader and how the student council should discharge their duties and contribute to the growth and development of the institution.

Prof. Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Director NUCSER, presided over the function. The events were coordinated by the Student Welfare Committee of the institute. Dr. Deekshit, Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering and Dr. Arshdeep Sidhu, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.

In the afternoon, the cultural events marked the celebration of Fresher’s Day where the new entrants were welcomed by the seniors. A series of songs and dances were put up by the freshers. The best-dressed Fresher (male & female) were chosen. The new students put up splendid performances and the senior students also performed group events in the form of classical and film dances.
