News from NIA | Summer School 2020-21 | Creative writing workshop by Dr. Padmini Ray Murray on 16th & 17th August 2021.

A Creative Writing workshop was organized for the 2nd semester students on 16th & 17th August 2021. The resource person Dr. Padmini Ray Murray is a researcher and founder of Design Beku in Bangalore. Dr. Ray Murray spoke about her idea behind the organization “Design Beku” and her interest in creating relation with culture and technology, visual communication, using illustration as a transformational medium of idea or subject to communicate.

She spoke on sensory writing in visual, content and experiential terms by giving examples of spaces and liberal practises and connecting it to the built spaces and its characteristics, allowing a scope to experiment and explore with personal expression. She also spoke on academic writing and emphasized to go beyond by incorporating intersectionality to shape the writing and thought process. This workshop has offered students increased learning towards developing and improvising the comprehensive skill of writing.
