News from ABSMIDS | Training program on Basics in Prescription Writing for Interns

The Basics in Prescription Writing program for Interns of AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, was organised by the Institutional Infection Control Cell on 30th July 2022 at Vimshathi Bhavan, 7th floor, ABSMIDS. The Chief Guest for the program was Prof (Dr.) Smitha Hegde, Dy Director, NUCSER.

The objective of the program was to train the current batch of interns in various aspects of prescription writing protocols, so that the interns trained will be able to write the prescription in a systematic way in adherence to the protocols laid by DCI.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by an interactive session on Basics in Prescription Writing by the resource person, Dr. Swati Acharya, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, KSHEMA. She explained the systematic way of writing a prescription and its importance through lecture, audio-visual aids and an interactive session. The participants were given a pre-test on writing a prescription for two dental scenarios followed by self-evaluation of the pre-test.

Prof (Dr.) U S Krishna Nayak, Dean, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences presided over the function. Prof (Dr.) Vabitha Shetty, Chairperson, Infection Control Cell and Dr. Prajna P Nayak, Program Coordinator, Infection Control Cell, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences coordinated the event.

There were 70 participants.
