The Institutional Anti-Ragging Committee, NUCSER organized a workshop on “Self-esteem: including bullying and peer influence” as part of the capacity building and soft skills for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The workshop was conducted over five weeks, from 7th October to 4th November 2022, every Friday between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
The resource person was Ms Lugina Miranda, Counsellor from “You Matter” Counselling & Training Centre, Mangaluru. She specializes in parenting training, person-centred therapy, rational emotive behaviour therapy and positive behavioural therapy.
The resource person spoke about how self-esteem is a primary societal concern. The session highlighted the personality traits of those with low self-esteem contrasting the traits of those with high self-esteem. The workshop involved various activities that kept the students engaged in the sessions. The students actively participated in the activities, which were exciting and increased the spectrum of knowledge and awareness on major mental health concerns. The session helped to provide new insight to life and motivated the students to acknowledge the importance of being self-confident and outgoing.
