News from ABSMIDS | Workshop on Fundamentals of Synopsis Writing

The Institutional Research Committee (IRC) and Dept. of Public Health Dentistry, ABSMIDS organized a 2-day workshop on “Fundamentals of Synopsis Writing” on 9th & 10th March 2023 at Trimshati Bhavan for the 1st year MDS students.

After the formal inauguration, Prof. (Dr.) Biju Thomas, Secretary, IRC welcomed the gathering. Dr. Praneetha D Rani, Lecturer introduced the guest speaker Prof. (Dr.) Vijaya Hegde, Head, Dept. of Public Health Dentistry, AJ Institute of Dental Sciences. The program coordinator Dr Deesha Kumari, lecturer, introduced the guest speakers Prof. (Dr.) Rekha Shenoy, Head, Dept. of Public Health Dentistry, Yenepoya Dental College and Prof. (Dr.) Madhavi Bhargava, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College. Dr Sahana Maben, Tutor & Clinical coordinator introduced the guest speaker Prof (Dr.) Neevan D’Souza, Biostatistician, K S Hegde Medical Academy.

Prof. (Dr.) US Krishna Nayak, Principal & Dean, ABSMIDS delivered the presidential address. Prof. (Dr.) Audrey D’Cruz, HoD, Public Health Dentistry, ABSMIDS delivered the vote of thanks. Dr Shilpa M, Lecturer was the Master of ceremony.

Day 1 of the workshop had lecture sessions on Synopsis Writing by Prof. (Dr.) Vijaya Hegde and Prof. (Dr.) Rekha Shenoy. Day 2 of the workshop started with a session on Ethics in Healthcare Research by Prof. (Dr.) Vijaya Hegde. The next session was a lecture with demonstration on Literature Search by Prof. (Dr.) Madhavi Bhargava. This was followed by a session on Sample size Estimation by Prof (Dr.) Neevan D’Souza. All the lectures were followed by a Question and Answer session. A total of 48 participants attended the lecture and the hands-on workshop.
