News from KSHEMA | CME / Symposium

The Vertigo Clinic of the Dept of Otorhinolaryngology, K.S Hegde Medical Academy was inaugurated by Dr Achal Gulati, a renowned, Delhi-based ENT surgeon on 27th March 2023. The Department also conducted a CME on Videonystagmography - Role in vertigo management on the same day.

Dr. Gulati spoke of the need for a Vertigo Clinic as part of the ENT OPD. He also emphasized the need for clear documentation in medicine.

Prof (Dr) M Shantaram Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Nitte (DU), spoke of the advancements made in the study of vertigo and evaluation of the vestibular system and its role in the clinical assessment of patients.

Dr Srinivas Dorasala, Resource person of the CME, conducted three sessions on the physiology of vestibular apparatus and introduction to VNG, live demonstration of clinical cases and demonstration of Stabilometer. He congratulated both the Department of ENT and Nitte University for the progress made over the years.

Prof (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary B, Vice Chancellor, Nitte (DU) congratulated Dr Srinivas's contributions in the field of vertigo and stressed the role of other departments in the management of a vertigo patient.

Dr Vadisha Bhat, Professor & Head, Dept. of ENT, welcomed the gathering. The vote of thanks was given by Dr Marina Saldanha, Assoc.Professor & Organizing Secretary of the CME. Dr Saloni Shenoy compered the program.

The program was attended by faculty members, postgraduates and undergraduates of the Dept. of Otorhinolaryngology, Nitte Institute of Speech & Hearing and surrounding institutions.
