Celebration of World Environment Day- 2023
Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research, in collaboration with the NSS & Youth Red Cross Units, Sustainable Development Goals Initiative, Nitte DU, conducted "The Tree Planting Event 2023" in Paneer Campus on June 5th, 2023.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moodithaya reiterated the commitment of Nitte management towards developing a sustainable environment in the campus. He observed how climate change has resulted in water scarcity in the region and reminded the faculty of their responsibilities to make positive environmental changes to secure a sustainable future for the next generation.
The University officials, faculty members and students from NUCSER, NIA, and NGSMIPS participated in the program.
The United Nations theme “Beat the Plastic” for World Environment Day 2023 motivated the faculty members and students of NUCSER to visit the Mangala Waste Management & Resource Development Unit located in the campus, to observe the waste management system with a special focus on the plastic sorting unit. This facility is unique to Nitte University and is one of the first of its kind to be established in an institution of higher education.
Prof. Dr. Smitha Hegde, Member Secretary of NUGIP, Dr.Madhumani M, YRC Officer, NUCSER, and Mr. Shashi Kumar Shetty, NSS Coordinator, were the organizers of the event.
