Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Resuscitation training cell in association with Department of Anaesthesiology, KSHEMA, Nitte DU and IIEMS, Kottayam, organised AHA certified workshop on Basic Life support on 19th, 20th and 21st June 2023 at Avishkara Auditorium, 7th floor, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Deralakatte, Mangalore.
The BLS training program was Headed by Prof. (Dr.) Sripada G Mehandale, Head, Department of Anaesthesiology and Prof.(Dr.) Gayathri Bhat , Anaesthetist and chief co-ordinator, Resuscitation training cell, KSHEMA, Nitte DU. The team included expert trainers - Dr.Sruthi, Dr.Nikhil Paul, Md.Shanti, Dr.Prabhu, Dr.Jithin from various medical institutions and Coordinators from IIEMS - Mr. Ashwin, Mr.Sajin.
The BLS workshop was attended by 159 participants which included 94 BDS interns, 44 Post graduates, 11 MBBS interns, 1 MD- Pathology, 2 Nursing staff, 5 external and 2 staff members from ABSMIDS. The participants underwent an intensive training Program which comprised of lectures from certified Trainers, Video presentations , hands on CPR on Mannequins, followed by theory and practical exams.
The programme was very well received and appreciated by the participants making it a great success. The program was co-ordinated by Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Professor and Head, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and Dr. Gopinath Thilak P.S, Reader, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
