The Fluid Power Society of India (FPSI) conducted a national-level ‘MS Yoganarasimha Award for Innovation in Design’ between 16th & 30th September 2023, to commemorate its Golden Jubilee celebrations. The team with Mr. Niranjan Sharma K V and Ms. Sandhya D Bhat, Research Associates of Dept. of Robotics & AI, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, presented the work on ‘Realisation of different weld schedules in pneumatically controlled electrode in Resistance Spot Welding machine’ under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Muralidhara, Head, Dept. of Robotics & AI and won the first place with a total cash prize of Rs. 85,000/-.
The jury panel comprised of experts from industry and academia. The evaluation of the design was based on the uniqueness of the concept, innovation, energy saving, ease of implementation and clarity of presentation.
The award was presented at the Second Fluid Power R&D Confluence (FPRD 2023) held on 7th October 2023, at BMS College of Engineering, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru. 20 teams from 13 engineering institutions from all over the country participated in this competition.
