Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research hosted the inquisitive Class X students of Manipal School, Attavar, Mangaluru, for “A Day as a Scientist” on 13th October 2023. The event was planned to introduce the Class X students to the World of Biological Research, to showcase the research facilities at the institute and to apprise them about the current areas of biomedical research.
Students were introduced to the concepts of handling microorganisms, basics of bio and nanotechnology, applications of biomedical science in environmental health, food technology and handling non-mammalian animal models like zebrafish and drosophila. Faculty and research scholars at NUCSER engaged the students in laboratory demonstrations and priming discussions to enthuse the young minds.
Seventy-five students and four teachers of Manipal School participated in the event.
